Upgrading Your Sleep System

When looking for the right sleep system, it is important to keep a few things in mind. Any sleep system professional can answer your questions, but having those questions ready to go when you walk onto the showroom floor will help you find the right bed for you faster and more efficiently.

First, what do you want your bed to do? It may seem like an odd question, but if you are searching for a guest bed, a day bed, or any other bed that may not get as much use as your master bedroom furniture, comfort may not be as important an issue as aesthetic appeal. Know which room (or rooms) you are looking to furnish before you begin shopping.

Say you need a new mattress for your master bedroom. Begin by asking yourself why you are getting rid of your old mattress. Are the springs shot? Is it damaged? Are you simply ready for a change? Or do you, like many Americans, find that you are not getting the quality of sleep you need from your conventional flat mattress?

If the latter is the case, your sleep system answer could very well be an adjustable bed. Many people who complain about pain upon waking, still being tired in the morning, or general restlessness at night sleep on a flat mattress. Simple physiology can tell us that the human spine, which is naturally curved, cannot find adequate support from a flat mattress. The body will compensate with uncomfortable tension and a night long search for a more natural position, which results in the cliche tossing and turning throughout the night.

Adjustable beds may provide a more comfortable option to restless sleepers, by enabling sleepers to sleep in any number of variations of the semi Fowler position, which conforms more readily to the natural curve of the human spine and may allow a sleeper to relax the whole night through.

Adjustable beds also come in conventional mattress sizes, so if you do decide to upgrade your sleep system, you will still be able to use your sheets and bedspread. In fact, adjustable beds make putting on fitted sheets much easier. But ask your sleep system specialist for more information. An adjustable bed might be just the right solution to your sleep system search.
